Biography of Mohamed Combo Kamanda

Mohamed Combo Kamanda (PhD and MA Ed from the University of Southampton in the UK, BA Ed with distinction in Teaching Practice from the then Njala University College, University of Sierra Leone) is a trained, qualified teacher and teacher trainer and former Lecturer of Literature-in-Education, Linguistics, English Language, Literature, Communication Skills and African Studies. As well as having taught English Language and Literature both at home and in the UK, he had served as Chief Examiner of Language Arts in Sierra Leone and as acting Head of Department of English in the UK. He has a vast experience in creative writing, published and directed plays for stage performances and has served as Chief Editor of Sierra Leone Writers Series. He has organised debates on contemporary issues at local, national and international levels. As well as these, Dr. Kamanda has worked as a consultant (pro bono) for developing the proposal for upgrading Eastern Polytechnic into the Eastern Technical University, served as one of the Consultants hired by Redi4Change to develop the English Language and Literature Curricula for Senior Secondary Schools, worked as a Consultant for Communication Skills at INDEPTH Network Sites in Ghana and Thailand, and worked for Development Education for the Africa Centre, Department of Peace Studies in Bradford University, UK. He is currently the Secretary General of Sierra Leone National Commission for UNESCO and ICESCO (the Islamic World Educational, Scientific, and Cultural Organisation) (from October 2018 to the present).
