Yata, a junior secondary school pupil is about to take the Junior Secondary Certificate Examination in the story To Dare and To Do. She is eager to attend senior secondary school and then university. However, her father has different plans for her. Even her well-respected class teacher cannot convince the old man to let Yata continue school. Will Yata give up when she eventually performs poorly in the examinations? This story is followed by a thoughtful poem about choices we make in life, appropriately titled Choices, and a short biography of the famous Sierra Leonean Madam Ella Koblo Gulama, titled, The Remarkable Ella Tala (1921-2006): A Short Biography
